Medical Skin Needling, also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) and Micro-Needling, is a recent focus for skin rejuvenation and beauty centers. Learn how to safely use sharp surgical blades to remove your clients’ vellus hair from the top epidermal layer of the skin. Dermaplaning increases cellular turnover while simultaneously smoothing and softening the surface of the skin – something your clients will love!

• How dermaplaning compares with other forms of physical exfoliation and hair removal
• Client selection
• Contraindications to treatment
• Proper sanitation of instruments and infection protection
• Pre-treatment skin analysis
• How to provide explanations of the procedure to the client
• Methodology for dermaplaning treatment, including:
– Maneuvering the instrument
– Clinical end points
– Troubleshooting
– Post procedure options


ILLINOIS REQUIREMENTS

Requirements for any class vary by state so make sure to check yours. Illinois’ requirements are:

  • COSMETOLOGIST – 14 hours every two years.
  • ESTHETICIAN – 10 hours every two years.
  • NAIL TECHNICIAN – 10 hours every two years.
  • COSMETOLOGY TEACHER – 24 hours every two years; 10 of those hours must be methodology.
  • ESTHETICS OR NAIL TECHNOLOGY TEACHER – 20 hours every two years; 10 of those hours must be methodology.
