Barber Program

1500 HOURS; 12 MONTHS FULL-TIME OR 20 MONTHS PART-TIME

Tricoci University’s barber school provides the most current, technically precise and versatile education available in the barber training field today. Upon completion of our courses in our barber schools, students can have a secure foundation in all aspects of barbering.

Tricoci University of Beauty Culture’s Barber School will prepare you for a wide variety of barbering careers, which may include:

– Barber
– Barber Apprentice
– Barbershop Manager
– Barbershop Owner
– Master Barber
– Men’s Stylist

Fast Track Barber Program

FOR COSMETOLOGY GRADUATES; 500 HOURS; 3 MONTHS FULL-TIME OR 5 MONTHS PART-TIME

Tricoci University offers a “fast track” Barber Program option for those that have already graduated from an accredited cosmetology program at select Illinois campuses. Upon completing 500 clock hours of barber training, graduates of our program will be eligible to take the Illinois State Boards to obtain a barber license.

Note: Net Tuition for the “Fast Track” option will be significantly less than the full-length program. Alumni scholarship is not available for the Fast Track program. Financial aid is available for those that qualify. Please contact us for more details and eligibility requirements.

Barber Teacher / Instructor Training Program

The teacher/instructor program length depends on your experience level, technical skills, and previous education completed.

Barber Teacher (IL) – 1000 Hours; 12 months part-time
Barber Teacher with Experience (IL) – 600 Hours; 7 months part-time*
Instructor Training (IN) – 1000 Hours; 12 months part-time

*To qualify for the shorter program in IL, students must have 2+ years of barbershop experience and maintain an active license during the program.

Barber Program Curriculum

Initial Classroom “Essentials” Training
Classroom instruction covering general theory and practical application on a range of barbering skills.
Hair Styling/Hair Art
Primarily hands-on instruction that teaches the core “Tricoci Cuts” and a broad variety of styling techniques.
Practical Chemical Application/Hair Treatment
Hands-on instruction addressing all aspects of coloring (and other chemical applications) for men’s hair and facial hair.
Shop Management
Includes sanitation and interpersonal relations.
Shaving
Covers the art of and techniques for shaving men’s hair and facial hair.
Skin Care
“Base” coverage of skin care for men; focuses on face, neck and scalp.
Sports Manicures
”Base” coverage of nail technology theory and application for men’s manicures.

Admission Requirements

Here’s what you’ll need to do:
– Call the toll-free number or use the online process (see right side of this web page) to provide basic information; our Admissions Representative will contact you to set up an appointment at your preferred campus.
– Visit the campus to conduct an informational interview and a tour of the school.
– Meet with a Financial Aid Coordinator to discuss payment options, including financial aid, available scholarships, and tuition payment plans.
The following requirements must be met by all incoming students to Tricoci University of Beauty Culture:
– Age: applicants must be at least 16 years of age by the first day of class (for teacher programs, must be 18).
– Education: applicants must hold a high school diploma, high school transcripts of completion, or a GED certificate.
– For Teacher Programs: applicants must have a current barber license.
