Erica Campos, NATVA Winner and Tricoci University Alum

Posted on: September 7th, 2016

By Erica Campos, Tricoci University Cosmetology Alumni

My experience as a NATVA bronze medal winner was incredible. I didn’t expect to win. I entered the competition to have fun and to see how creative I could get. Being a part of the competition really helped me get out of my comfort zone and grow confidence as a stylist. I love doing hair so being a part of the whole event was like a dream to me. I’m sure I can speak for everyone when I say that Wella did an awesome job at making us feel like we were all long lost family.

The weekend we arrived, they had a meet and greet for us the first night for us to get to know everyone and kind of hang out. On Sunday, they provided a breakfast for us in the morning and we practiced our hairstyles, then we rehearsed how we were going to walk on stage at NATVA. During rehearsal the day before the show, I was practicing the hairstyle and I kept thinking to myself, “Is this real?” Reality didn’t want to sink in.

The day of the show, we started prepping and working on our models all morning. Then we took a break for lunch, and after we did a few touch-ups on their hair. We then walked over to a different room for a photo shoot and took a few pictures. Afterward, we had dinner and there was a model viewing, meaning they had all of our models standing on a platform for everyone to see them up close. After the model viewing is when the show began and we were backstage constantly lining up and getting queued of when to walk on stage. When they announced the winners, the show ended with confetti everywhere and an announcement of where the NATVA after party would be. It was amazing.

Altogether, I definitely would do it all over again and I would encourage any new stylist to take a chance and test their skills in competition. It was the best thing that’s happened in my career as a stylist.

Tricoci Receives Cosmetologists Chicago’s Student of the Month

Posted on: January 22nd, 2016

By Andrew Dalton, cosmetology student at Tricoci University’s Chicago NE campus

Congrats Tiffany Palmer!

This morning I had the profound pleasure of witnessing the well-deserved recognition of a fellow students’ hard work; Ms. Tiffany Palmer, of the Northeastern campus of the Tricoci University of Beauty Culture, was recognized as Cosmetologists Chicago’s Student of the Month.

Having personally observed the amount of time, effort, and raw talent that Tiffany gives to her clients and fellow students on a daily basis, I can say with total honesty that there is no person more deserving of this distinction.

I will admit, there was a certain amount of serendipity to the entire situation. You don’t go to class one morning expecting to witness one of your classmates being honored by an organization like Cosmetologists Chicago. While we tell each other all the time how well we think our peers are doing, Oohing and Aahing over a well-executed cut or color or style, that’s from within our family. We, as a campus and as cosmetologists, are SUPPOSED to uplift each other. You don’t expect someone outside of your family to come in and tell you that one of “Your” best, is also one of “Their” best. It is a surprising, humbling, and altogether wonderful feeling of accomplishment. It is an affirmation that we, as a family, and Tiffany Palmer, in particular, are doing something right.

Congratulations Tiffany on becoming Cosmetologists Chicago’s Student of the Month, you deserve it!!!

Tricoci University of Beauty Culture to build upon the long-standing legacies of The Hair Arts Academy of Bloomington, Indiana, and Concept College of Cosmetology of Danville and Urbana, Illinois.

Tricoci University of Beauty Culture is pleased to welcome three new campus locations to its growing family of schools. The addition of these campuses allows Tricoci University to serve new markets while leaning into the long-standing legacies of the schools it merged with; The Hair Arts Academy of Bloomington, Indiana, and Concept College of Cosmetology of Danville and Urbana, Illinois.

“We are very excited about merging with these schools. We have as much to learn from them as they do from us,” says Tricoci University of Beauty Culture CEO Ross Bravo. “Together, we’ll be able to continue to raise the bar of what a beauty education should be.”

The Bloomington campus in Indiana will continue to offer programs in Cosmetology and Esthetics to students seeking training for a career in the beauty industry. It will also continue to provide affordable beauty services to the Indiana University students and the surrounding communities that it has been faithfully serving for the past 32 years.

The Danville and Urbana campuses of Illinois will continue to offer the Cosmetology program with plans to also offer a Teacher Training program in the near future. The Danville campus has been an upstanding fixture of the community for more than 65 years. The Urbana campus is in a newer facility, but has also been a long-standing member of its community, too, and is conveniently situated near the University of Illinois—Urbana-Champaign campus.

With the three new locations, Tricoci University of Beauty Culture now has 14 campus locations throughout Illinois and Indiana. Tricoci University is focused on producing salon-ready graduates that are prepared for successful careers in the beauty industry. Founded by Mario Tricoci, an international beauty industry leader, Tricoci University of Beauty Culture is dedicated to developing a new type of beauty professional by using innovative teaching methods, an interactive learning platform and upscale facilities. All guest services are provided by its students under the supervision of licensed instructors.

Creating Award-Winning Looks at IASC

Posted on: November 19th, 2014

Tricoci University of Beauty Culture (TUBC) is honored to announce that two of its talented cosmetology students picked-up awards at the 29th annual Illinois Association of Cosmetology Schools’ Student Contest (IASC), held on November 9th at Tinley Park Convention Center.

The following students represented TUBC with beautiful, creative work: Laura Saunders (TUBC’s Glendale Heights campus), Rebekah Hall (Chicago NE campus), and Kathryn (Kaedi) Leamon (both from TUBC”s Chicago NE campus); with Kathryn awarded first place and Laura winning fifth place in the bridal category.

The bridal category asked student competitors to create a very elegant bridal look that reflected a fashionable ‘classic bridal wedding’. Hair could be short or long and styled as an updo or down. The degree of difficulty in achieving the final hairstyle and makeup was considered as part of the judging.

Jill Marcodes, Executive Director of Cosmetology at Tricoci University of Beauty Culture, says:“This competition is always important to our students – it’s a chance for cosmetology students across Illinois to gather and demonstrate their newly developed beauty skills. This year’s team had an awesome time and a special congratulations to the two award winners.”
