At the seventh annual Lung Run at Montrose Harbor this past weekend, I had the great opportunity to volunteer my service in performing complimentary manicure and hand massages to the runners. The Lung Run is a 5K and 10K run to help raise money for lung cancer research. There were various vendors offering free food, drinks, and music and there was even a tent that was selling kites for $20, with all proceeds going to lung cancer research. On the kites, children were able to draw and write special messages to their lost loved ones and the student council bought a kite to fly on behalf of all the students and staff of Tricoci University. It was perfect weather to fly the kites!

A big poster was put up in the middle of the event where everyone wrote a little note to the ones they lost or were going through lung cancer. As I stood reading it I felt tears building up in my eyes, it was so sad the experiences people had gone through, losing their mothers, fathers, sibling, husbands, wives and family members. It made me think about how hard it would be for me losing someone close to me.  It was so touching to see so many people volunteer and help to find a cure together.

Ms. Amber and Ms. Tonya led Harlem and Bridgeview’s Tricoci University students, all the students were excited to give the best service to all of those who were running for a cause. We were so honored to offer these services to them for free. It felt so good and fulfilling to do something nice for somebody who very much deserved it. I am thankful for having the opportunity to volunteer at the Lung Run.
