Mario provides leadership in positioning Tricoci University at the forefront of the industry. In addition, he is actively engaged with students, graduates, the salon industry and TUBC associates. Mario currently serves on the TUBC Board of Managers.
Mario began his career in Italy at an early age. He participated in many international competitions, where he gained significant notoriety. He began his American hairstyling career in 1960 in Chicago.
In 1977, Mario created a new salon brand, opening the first privately-owned salon in a major shopping mall; soon, new locations were added. In 1986, the Mario Tricoci Hair Salon & Day Spa became the first Day Spa in the Midwest. By 2001, Mario Tricoci had 26 salon locations throughout the Chicagoland area, as well as Ohio, Kansas, and Missouri. In the spring of that year, Mario merged his salons with Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas where he remains an active member of the Board of Directors.
In addition to his role at Tricoci University, Mario Tricoci Salon & Day Spas and Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas, Mario is also the Honorary President of Fondation Guillaume, a sub-organization of Intercoiffure Mondial that helps develop young hairstylists on an international level.
In 2004, Mario opened the doors of his first beauty school location as a way to give back to the industry. He is dedicated to producing salon-ready professionals and is always pushing the envelope of what a beauty school education should be.
Mario’s steadfast vision and values led to Tricoci University’s expansion, and he remains excited about serving more students in new markets as we continue to grow.
