Thursday, June 7 at 6 p.m., Tricoci University hosted a Creative Demo. The event was to encourage current TU students to showcase our talents to prospective students.

Beginning with refreshments and appetizers, everyone was sure set to feel right at home! After getting background knowledge as well as TUBC’s vision, a senior student, Bridget, demonstrated a modified long layer haircut and even encouraged prospects to participate in some hands-on fun.  Once the cut was complete, it was time to move on to what I believe is the most fun and exciting part – coloring! Ms. Julie, our master educator, performed the new trending ombre look on a mannequin and encouraged everyone to also get hands-on and apply the color. After the prospects were given the opportunity to engage with a teacher and a student, learn more about the cosmetology program and all the fun here, it was time to move on to the makeup counter and learn more about esthetics! Haley and Cynthia, both esthetics students, showcased their talents by creating custom blended lip gloss and eye shadows. Every prospect that attended received a raffle ticket. The winners of the raffle received the custom blended lip glosses and eye shadows. Ms. Mallory, our enrollment advisor, and the host of our event, then toured the prospective group around the school, showing them all the career-like areas TU students work in.

Everyone seemed to feel so comfortable and right at home – and excited about their kit-to-come!  After passing out pens and voting sheets, it was time for some real fun! Time to show everyone our talents as TU students and have a mini fashion show. One student was the stylist and one student was the model, and the theme was Hawaiian Luau/Fun in the Sun. I had the opportunity to use my own creativity to create the beach look on my model. I styled her hair, applied her makeup, and chose the perfect outfit for the theme. It was so much fun! Six models and six students, including myself, all participated in the fashion show. We each had different ideas and gave our audience a taste of the creative world of TU talent. We included looks such as beachy waves, simple summer up-dos, natural sun-kissed skin and colorful, eye-popping shadows. We talked about the hottest looks trending this summer and how to simply achieve it at home. The winners of the event got a Starbucks gift card and other recognition for participating. We were all rewarded for our hard work and achievements and ultimately had a blast! We host events like this often and at each one we raffle off a $1000 scholarship. If you’re thinking about a career in cosmetology or esthetics and want to see what TU students are about and the amazing things you will learn here, an event like this is a perfect opportunity for you.
