James Ryder

Makeup Artist, Photographer, and Magazine Publisher

James Ryder is a makeup artist, photographer and magazine publisher based is Los Angeles. He dedicates his life to providing career guidance and advanced education for future professionals throughout the country. James has worked on more than 100 feature films. Over 50 of those projects as the make-up department head or by star request.

His work has been seen in countless magazines including, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle, W, In Style, Bazaar, Glamour, WWD, Rolling Stone, Seventeen, Marie Claire, Allure, Taxi, and GQ.

James was Vincent D’Onofrio’s personal make-up artist and wig specialist for, The Cell. The Cell received an Academy Award Nomination in 2001 for Best Make-up. The film also received a nomination at the 2001 Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild Awards for Best Innovative Hair Styling for a Feature Film.

He also created the character make-up for Vincent D’Onofrio as Pooh Bear, a nose-less meth dealer for the film The Salton Sea which was nominated for Best Innovative Make-up for a Feature Film at the 2002 Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild Awards.

His other A-List clients include Reese Witherspoon, Katie Holmes, Scarlett Johansson and many more.

LIVIDITY Magazine is a creative lifestyle magazine featuring ART, FASHION, MUSIC and CULTURE sections. Unlike magazines that rely on submissions, all of the Fashion Section content and interviews are produced in house. Every image in the fashion section is produced exclusively by RYDER make-up labs Studio at our unique Emerging Artist Boot Camp.

The Boot Camp

RYDER makeup labs has teamed up with the most respected educators in the business to offer career guidance and non-product specific advanced training. Their program is geared toward developing talent and launching careers in the fashion and entertainment industries. The career development lecture and supplemental advanced education is offered at select schools, like Tricoci University, and convention venues throughout the United States. Approximately one percent of all the students that they meet are invited to enroll in the boot camp which places the most promising young artists we find in an intense real working environment for a full week in Los Angeles.

RYDER make-up labs, along with their school partners have helped countless young artists start amazing careers. Boot Camp alumni are given the tools and credentials they need to take their career to another level instantly. RYDER makeup labs’ mission is to open doors and support artists through every stage of their career.
