We are here to make people
feel good about themselves.
We really have to feel like we
are a day maker for the guest.
You’ve made my day.
How great is that when you hear
those words from your guest.
Hello friends.
Welcome to the Day makers podcast.
My name is Daved Dolce.
Today we will be
interviewing Daniela.
Daniela is one of our
current students at our.
Which campus are you from?
Elgin.
Elgin.
Well, thank for joining us today.
Yeah, thank you for having me.
Yep.
What, what program are you in?
I’m in the CA program.
Cause program.
Did you know you wanted to do ca?
Did you think about sd?
Did you not even know
there was a difference?
I.
I knew that my first choice would
be cause just cuz I’ve always been
interested in hair and stuff.
But once we started the like
the spa unit I became really
interested in the SD program.
So I’m kind of hoping to go
into that in the future as well.
Get out of here.
We do a license.
Yeah.
We got a whole plan.
Yeah.
I love it.
What first inspired you
to get into this industry?
I think just like always
my love for beauty.
And like I remember when I
was younger I would always just
be braiding my doll’s hair
like trying to cut them.
And my grandma, she’s a.
She was a hairdresser so she’s
taught me a couple of things like
here and there in the past.
And yeah there’s so many of us
like myself included from my
mother was a hairstylist that
like we had that person when we
were growing up that we kind of
watched that really inspired us
to do what we do.
So when I hear those
stories, I love it.
So you have a bunch of different
beauty schools in the area.
Did you check any out before
you checked out Tricoci?
Yes.
And what was the difference
between those schools?
I mean I really liked how Tricoci
was very strong student involved.
I felt like because over the past
two years I’ve been looking at
different schools just to see
what’s out there in my area and
Tragosi really caught my eye just
because of, you know, the student
life and how everything just
seems so well organized if that
makes sense.
Yeah, definitely.
I felt like I didn’t see that
a lot from many other schools
so that we’ll try it out.
So you researched for a few years.
Yeah.
That’s really cool.
So you put some thought into this.
Yeah, it’s been like I always
knew in mind that after high
school I would go into this.
That’s awesome.
You always knew.
Yeah.
I always say there’s some people that
don’t know what they’re gonna do.
Think about it.
I’m creative.
That was me.
I’m like, I’m gonna go to beauty
school to see how this works out.
It worked out awesome.
There’s people like you like this.
You knew this was it since
you were a little girl
cutting your doll’s heads.
Yeah, I love it.
So who’s your.
You really looking to back you when
you enrolled into Jocote University?
And how important is that
for you to have that support system
while you’re in school?
Yeah, my family, my friends
definitely are huge supporters.
Like, definitely my mom, every
time I talk to her about
stuff we’ve learned or, you know,
what we’re going to do,
she’s always so excited for me.
So that kind of helps me
get excited as well.
Yeah.
And yeah, it helps me a lot staying
motivated, especially knowing that
people support me in what I do.
That’s perfect.
You need that.
You really, really do.
Because it’s long days, Right.
Sometimes you do get discouraged.
Monday through Friday,
9 to 5 for about a year.
You are there.
Yeah.
Are you working?
What’s a day in your life look like?
Yeah, so I.
I do work.
I just work weekends.
So it’s.
It’s been a.
A little bit of a struggle trying
to learn how to balance it.
But yeah, so I just go
to school Monday through Friday
and then Saturday and Sunday
I’m just working.
So, yeah, it’s been.
It’s been chill.
Good.
And it is a struggle sometimes.
Like, you don’t have a day off.
Really.
What pushes you through when
there’s those days you don’t want
to wake up and go to school?
What really pushes you?
My future, honestly, just knowing
that one day I am going
to be able to do what I want to do.
So that really pushes me to get
up in the morning because
there’s days where I can’t.
Like once Wednesday hits,
I’m like, oh my God.
But no, I pushed through
and you gotta go.
You gotta get that Attendance.
Yeah.
Attendance is important, right?
Yeah.
Those hours.
Yes.
Get them in, get them in.
Yeah.
So is there anybody at that LG campus
that you’re at, Any of the educators
there that really touched
your life and you think are.
Which is really inspiring,
and you’re really glad
to have them in your corner?
Yeah.
I mean, maybe I’m
a little biased, but Ms.
Easy, she’s my teacher.
I’d be biased too, I guess.
Her?
Yeah, no, she’s great.
I love her.
Like, she’s so supportive.
And, like, whenever I show her
something that I’m proud of, she’s
always like, oh, that’s so great.
Like, you know, just
really supportive.
And everyone.
And I can tell everyone loves her.
I mean, how can you not like her?
No, her personality is great.
I love it because I’ll sit
around the corner sometimes.
I do teacher observations because
I don’t want to make them nervous.
And.
And just hearing the way she
teaches, like, she’s so involved
into it, it, like, makes me proud.
That’s been my friend for a long
time, so this is, like a full
circle moment for me to even
be having this conversation.
She’ll be super, super
happy to hear that.
If you can go back to day one
and be like, daniella, before
you start school, I really
need you to know this.
What would be the one thing
you would tell yourself?
I would say just to
keep my eye on the prize.
Cause it’s.
It’s hard to kind of get lost in
what your end goal is, because
there’s just so many stuff happens
throughout the day and, you know,
getting discouraged or feeling
like I can’t do this, but just
really keeping in mind that what I
want to do at the end of the day
is what I love.
So I really just need to, you know,
push forward and get through it.
Are you still in our
essentials program?
Yeah, I have three
weeks left, actually.
And then you’ll be
in the clinic program.
So actually, we’ll be
taking the clients.
Yeah.
Are you nervous, excited?
I’m both.
Yeah.
I’m nervous because obviously
I don’t want to mess
up someone’s hair or whatever,
but no, I’m really excited.
Good.
Yeah.
That’s why we’re here,
your educators, to guide
you and walk through it.
So, I mean, being scared
and nervous is good.
That’s part of it.
Because you want to do good.
Some people are, like, not scared.
Right.
And they jump right in there,
and they don’t really see
the importance of maybe going.
Going slow or taking direction.
So you’re going in there
with the right mentality.
Three weeks, that’s crazy.
And I’ll be around a lot,
so I’ll see you around.
I’ll get to watch that whole career.
So in this business, you haven’t
been taking clients yet, but do you
realize, like, you have the power
to be somebody’s day maker?
Yeah.
And that’s kind of scary.
It’s a little bit scary.
But, no, I’m excited for that
because whenever I get my hair
done, like, I feel like
a new person or you know, Ms.
Cece actually cut my
hair two weeks ago.
Really?
Yeah.
So, yeah, she did this cut,
and I love it.
I felt so, like, a lot better.
So, yeah, it definitely made my day.
Good.
See?
And then how did they make
you feel after you left
the chair even and went home?
And the next day I felt like a weight
was lifted off my shoulder.
And you carry it with you, and that’s
what you’re going to be doing
for your clients in the future.
Like, that’s a really big
job, but it’s so rewarding
and so fulfilling.
You’re gonna love it.
So that day maker mentality, being
able to be that person, do you think
that is important, to be that person
in order to develop and build
your clientele and for the future?
Yeah, 100%.
I think it’s really important
to get involved with your clients
and really talk to them because,
like, I work in customer
service, so I, you know, I.
I see that, like, a bunch
of the customers that come in,
like the regulars, you know, I try
and talk to them because I know
they’re going to see me again.
So I try to be n.
And every time I see them,
they’re always happy to see me.
So that’s really helped me,
like, understand what, like, what my
connection would be with clients.
Yeah.
And we have so many different
programs, too, to offer you instead.
So we’re doing babe extensions.
Right, the lashes.
Have you taken a part of any of
those opportunities yet, or do you
look forward to it in the future?
Yeah, I want to do everything,
so I’m excited to get
my hands on everything.
Do it all.
I always say, don’t not do it.
Don’t ever give somebody
else a chance to
in somebody else’s chair.
You want that client there,
you want to do all those services,
make the money, build that
relationship with them.
That’s the best part.
And then one final question I want
to ask is, you are from Elgin,
and I just love the way that Ms.
CC facilitates the vitality Project,
which is our wellness
program that we have at Tricoci.
How has that impacted you
and how do you think that’s
going to be a valuable tool
for you in the future?
It’s impacted me, actually,
surprisingly a good amount.
Like, I think it was last week
that we last had it, but I
was not so a good day for me.
And so after going through
the Vitality and everything that
day, it helped me and it motivate,
motivated me to get through the day.
And I think it’s really important for
us as students and just to really
have a moment where we can, you
know, close our eyes, take deep
breaths, because not a lot of people
think that it’s important for your
health to be doing that, so I think
it’s important.
Very important.
Yeah.
That warms my heart.
That’s, like, my project.
I love that we’re doing that.
And we’re one of the first schools to
even offer that to our students, so.
Yeah, I’m proud of that
and to coach University.
Well, you’ve been
delightful to talk to.
I’m really excited that this is a new
program for you, so I definitely get
to watch and see your growth.
So when I see you
at the campuses, say hi.
Don’t be shy.
Yeah, I will.
I’ll be pointing you out.
I’ll be looking for you.
Where’s Daniella?
But again, thank you so much
for being here for us.
It was very exciting.
Yeah, I was excited.
Thank you.
Take care.
Have a good day.
Thank you, too.
