Federal student aid

Federal student aid refers to any one of a number of programs that helps individuals pay for college. Typically, this includes grants like the Pell Grant, scholarships that may come from many places, and even work-study programs that allow you to work a part-time job to earn money to pay for your schooling. To receive federal student aid, you fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, which makes sure you meet the eligibility criteria for the federal student aid you’re interested in. Then you may qualify for student aid that can cover some or even all of your college costs. Federal student aid in the form of grants and scholarships does not require that you pay back your student aid.

Federal student loans

Loans can come from many different places, and the federal government backs some college loans. Even if you don’t qualify for federal student grants, you may qualify for federal student loans. Some types of loans are based on financial need, while some are not. Federal student loans typically offer a lower interest rate than private student loans, and if you’re having a hard time making your payments, you can typically contact the federal government to give you additional options for repayment. If you need a loan to cover some costs for your college, federal loans can help bridge the gap between any grants and scholarships you can achieve and the actual cost of college.

TUBC institutional scholarships

Scholarships can be a great way to pay for a significant portion of your schooling, especially if you have significant financial need or are part of an underserved group that needs more representation in the industry you’re pursuing. At Tricoci University, scholarships are often an important part of affording schooling. If you’re interested in getting scholarships directly from Tricoci University, there is a variety of options. You can check the Tricoci University website or contact a Tricoci University team member to learn more about any grants and scholarships currently available. Scholarships from Tricoci University may be based on a variety of factors, including competitions, financial need, and even random drawings.

Scholarships

You don’t necessarily have to receive a scholarship from Tricoci University to apply a scholarship to your Tricoci University education. There are many other locations where you can receive scholarships you can apply to Tricoci University education. That’s why Tricoci University has partnered with Beauty Changes Lives. This way, you can have access to as many scholarships and grants as possible. If you know you’re going to have a financial need while attending college, apply to as many scholarships as you qualify for. That way, you can have the greatest chance at getting at least one of these scholarships, which you can apply to your education moving forward. Make sure the scholarships allow you to choose Tricoci University as your school, as some scholarships only allow you to apply the money toward certain schools.

Government funding programs

“Government funding programs” is a way to refer to government-funded grants. This is a type of financial aid that most people know through the Pell Grant, which is a federally based financial aid grant that can pay for schooling for undergraduate students with significant financial need. However, this isn’t the only type of government grant. Local and state governments can also offer college grants, and there are other types of grants you can receive from the federal government besides Pell Grants. Different programs have different eligibility requirements and typically require that you resubmit your eligibility paperwork every year. Check for grants at the local and state level, as well as grants from your college, to see whether you’re eligible for any of these.

Monthly no-interest payments

If you’re going to a school that offers it, you might want to consider monthly no-interest payments through the college instead of taking out a student loan. With a monthly no-interest payment plan, you make an agreement with the school that you’ll pay for your schooling over a specific period of time. For example, this may allow you to pay for your schooling while you’re in school, giving you the opportunity to work part time and go to school part time, using the money to pay for living expenses and your college education. At Tricoci University, monthly no-interest payments may be a part of affordability for many students. It’s a great way to pay off your tuition completely interest-free, but it often requires you to pay tuition back more quickly than you would with a loan, resulting in higher monthly fees over a shorter period of time.

Private student loans

A possible option, especially if you don’t qualify for any of the previous options, is to take out private student loans. Most college financial aid advisors will only recommend private student loans as a last-ditch option, as they tend to have higher interest rates and stricter payback requirements than federal student loans or payment plans through the college you’re attending. However, they do have their place, especially if you’re not eligible for federal or local financial aid, you can’t pay for your schooling up front, and you’re not able to use the monthly plan your school offers. In these situations, it’s a good idea to shop around to make sure you’re getting the best interest rate, and you’ll likely want to try to pay the loan off as quickly as possible.

Frequently asked questions

Students have many questions about financial aid. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions at Tricoci University.

How do I apply for financial aid?green arrow
You may need to go through different processes depending on the type of financial aid you are applying for. For applying for federal aid this includes filling out a FAFSA form, which may require personal and financial information.
What Is the FAFSA?green arrow
The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It is what you will fill out if you’re looking to get financial aid for school from the government. This financial aid is means-tested, so you’ll get a different amount depending on your financial situation.
When should I complete the FAFSA?green arrow
Students should apply for financial aid as soon as possible each year. The FAFSA® is available on October 1st.
Will bad credit block me from obtaining financial aid?green arrow
Federal financial aid does not work like applying for a loan. The government will not check your credit to see whether you are eligible for financial aid. Instead, the government assesses your financial need to see how much financial aid it can offer.
Do I need to provide information from my parents for financial aid?green arrow
This depends on a variety of factors, including your age, your marital status, and if your parents provide financial support. Talk to an expert if you are not receiving aid from your parents, but you think their income may disqualify you.
Who do I contact to pay back my loans?green arrow
If you are attempting to pay back loans from Tricoci University, there are many options, including repayment plans to get you back on track. Contact a team member today to learn more about your loan options.
What if my personal or financial information changes after I complete the financial aid process?green arrow
Federal regulations allow aid administrators to consider extenuating circumstances when calculating aid eligibility, especially if your situation changes during the application process. If you or your family experiences any of the following, please contact the financial aid office: death of a parent or spouse, physical impairment, divorce or separation, unusual medical or dental expenses, recent loss of employment or dramatic change in income.
