When I started beauty school at Tricoci University of Beauty Culture (TUBC) I just thought I was going to learn how to do hair. Boy, was I wrong. TUBC not only taught me how to be a great cosmetologist, it also has taught me how to be a better person. I have learned how to be more responsible, patient and I have gained self-confidence and even though I have to travel two hours to and from school every day, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’ve never been encouraged to be the best I can be in life and I had no idea I had so much potential.

When I started attending Tricoci University’s beauty school, it was just something to fill my time with and until I met the staff at TUBC, I was really impatient and had a short temper. The staff and educators have been so supportive of me and helped me through so much, especially in times where I felt like I wasn’t going to make it, but they’d never let me give up. Ms. Elena will call me at 5:30 a.m. to make sure I’m up and getting ready for the day. Ms. Gigi, the general manager at my campus, always has her door open for me. Mr. Michael always pushes me because he sees the potential in me that I don’t see, especially because he and I come from the same neighborhood and he knows how important it is for me to become the best I can be and break the cycle of my environment. It’s those little things that make me feel like I belong.

I’m a 26-year-old woman with a 7-year-old daughter and attending Tricoci has been an eye opening experience and one of the best times of my life. I know I might not be the easiest person to get along with at times, but since I’ve been enrolled at TUBC, I view life in a totally different way.
